Common questions

Pricing and Quotes

Can the price move after the job begins?

The written quote you accept is locked in, even when the work runs longer than we planned for. Should anything truly unexpected surface, we down tools and re-quote before going on, rather than springing a bigger bill on you.

What does the $50 off your first service cover?

It's a straight discount for new customers, taken off the cost of your first booking once the work is agreed. It sits on top of our free quoting, so nothing extra is added just to price the job.

Is your quote genuinely free?

Genuinely free, and we don't charge a fee just to come out, look and price the work. There's no travel, parking or admin line tacked on, so the number on the quote is the whole picture.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Not to quote a job, which costs you nothing. For booked work, labour and materials are all folded into the fixed price you approve, so no separate call-out charge appears later.

Common questions

The Legal Stuff, Made Simple

Am I allowed to do my own electrical work in NSW?

No. In NSW, fixed wiring is licensed work, so tackling it yourself is illegal, uninsured and genuinely risky, and even a neat-looking job can bury a fault behind the plaster that only a licensed sign-off is meant to catch.

Which brands do you fit?

We fit gear built to last, including Clipsal switchgear and SAL fittings, rather than the cheap imports that give up early. Tell us at quote stage if you've got a particular product in mind and we'll build it in.

What is AS/NZS 3000?

It's the Australian and New Zealand wiring standard that every compliant job has to meet, covering how circuits are run, protected and tested. When we say a job is done to standard, that standard is what your compliance paperwork confirms.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, we hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, we're Master Electricians Australia members and our insurance is in full. You can check any electrical licence on the NSW Fair Trading register, and we'd rather you did than take it on trust.

Common questions

Booking, Timing and Response Times

How do I book a job?

Call us or send an enquiry through the contact page, and a real person on the local team picks it up and settles on a time to suit you. For anything urgent, the phone is always the quickest route to us.

How quickly can you get out to me?

Routine jobs are often same or next day, depending on where the week's bookings sit. A real emergency, say a burning smell or a dead board, jumps the queue and gets a response whenever it strikes.

What actually counts as an electrical emergency?

Anything genuinely risky: sparks, a burning smell, a hot power point, exposed wiring, or your place going dark while the rest of the street keeps its power. If it feels dangerous, ring us and a licensed electrician will work through it with you on the phone.

What happens after I call?

We hear out the problem and either set a time to quote or, when it's urgent, send someone sooner, always with a written price before work starts. You also get a reminder the day before a booking, so the visit never catches you off guard.

Common questions

The Dulwich Hill Questions

Do you know the local housing stock?

Well enough to see the quirks coming before we pull up. It's an old pocket of Federation and Victorian homes sitting next to a fast-growing run of flats and conversions, and the whole spread is our week-to-week work.

Do you work on heritage or strata properties?

Yes to both, and plenty of homes here sit inside heritage conservation areas, so we work sympathetically to leave period detail untouched. For strata, we cover common-property and unit electrical work and keep the paperwork clean for the managing agent.

Why do older homes here need switchboard upgrades?

The original boards were sized for a light, a radio and little else, not a household running chargers, ovens and cooling at once. So ageing ceramic fuses get swapped for safety switches and breakers that carry a modern load safely.

How local to the area are you?

We pass through these streets most weeks, so a job here sits inside the usual round rather than a one-off drive. There's no office on the corner being claimed here, only that we know the place and its homes well enough to start straight away.
